This Moment - Sundial

This Moment - Soule Mama
A single photo capturing a moment
A simple, special, extraordinary moment
A moment I want to pause, savour and remember

Whenever I have visitors from overseas, I take them to the usual places like the museum, the botanical gardens and other spots where one can enjoy the scenery. Wellington is, in my view, one of the most beautiful cities I have seen and the scenery no matter where you are is simply spectacular.

But each time I do the walkabout with my visitors, I discover something new.

And tucked away behind the Carter Observatory in the Wellington Botanical Gardens, was this sundial. Apparently there are many sundials in Wellington, so will have to walk around one day and see them all!

The sundial at the Carter Observatory is called the  "Sundial of Human Involvement". And as this is best explained in pictures, here they are:

I know - this moment is meant to have a single photo, but the latter two are to bring some context to the first picture.

And btw, this actually works - I got my cousin to stand and it was about 3.00pm - the time shown was perfect!

This is the moment
This is the time
When the momentum and the moment
Are in rhyme
Give me this moment
This momentous moment ...

  7. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love sun dials. I was thinking of including them in the clock day on Wednesday, but didn't want my post to be too long (plus I didn't have a good picture for one). Have a great day!
