June photo a day - Day 5 - Environmentally Foodprint Friendly

Day 5 of the June photo a day challenge - Environment

Today is World Environment Day, take a photo of your environment. This is our charity prompt for the month. The theme for this year’s World Environment Day celebrations is Think.Eat.Save. Think.Eat.Save is an anti-food waste and food loss campaign that encourages you to reduce your foodprint.

Here is a picture of some capsicums I took at the Saturday morning market a few weeks ago. My friend is currently on a raw food diet so she juices all the vegetables and fruits and always buys a couple of capsicums.

Eating raw vegetables not only has health benefits but is also carbon footprint friendly.

As capsicums don't need to be peeled there is very little wastage. Capsicums can also be organically grown at home. (visit this website for details on how)

Buying from the vegetable market also saves on packing material that one sees in the supermarkets.

Happy Environment Day and enjoy my capsicums.
