Thunderstorm

Thunder and lightening battling it out

Or was it the Gods? Friday night the heavens clashed, Wellington saw a spectacular light and sound show.

I hate thunderstorms, they scare me. The lightening gives off an eerie effect and the thunder is always so angry.

The lightening was on the other side of the harbour but it always feels like it's close by.

I was glad it only lasted a short while. I had to put my ipod on to drown out the scary sound and luckily the pulled curtains blocked out the lightening. I didn't dare take a picture.

But here's one courtesy tvnz.

I'm glad this was nowhere near where I live.

I'd much rather have the city look like this - blue skies and calm:

I took this picture from Oriental Bay 2 summers ago.

  4. I grew up in the Midwest on Lake Erie. I used to like watching the lightening WAY off in the distance on the lake. But up close, no thank you. I hide under the covers.

  6. okay, that first picture was really scary. We had one which struck near our hospital quarters last month. Blew up a fellow docs desktop computer and tv, another bulb and so on.

And definitely, I too want the serenity of pic 2 :D

  7. Even I hate the light and sound show in the sky and dread it. I read so many incidents in the newspapers which add to dread list.

    1. Hi It's so scary and it was so loud that day - don't know why the Gods didn't refine this and make it less scary!

    1. Hi Indrani. The rains I don't mind, the thunder and lightening are not my cup of tea.

  10. I don't think I would want to be too close to that shot of lightening either, even though unlike many I love thunderstorms and lightening. Nature even when it turns violent has a certain amount of beauty, at least to me it does.

    1. Thanks Nita and welcome to my blog. Nature is beautiful no matter what but I'd rather see her calm side and definitely would not want to be close to that lightening.
