Seven Year Itch ... #BarAThon

I am taking part in the Blog-A-Rhythm Bar-a-thon challenge. The theme can be anything that requires grit and endurance, but not necessarily fitness related. And there are daily prompts.

So my theme is simple, it's a blogging marathon about things to do with me in pictures, starting at one and ending at seven.

Today's prompt is Seven Year Itch

~

I love little trinket boxes. This is another one of my indulgences. I just can't resist a trinket box.

Here are seven boxes from my collection. Most of them are papier mache and from India. I love shopping in India as you can find so many beautiful boxes to buy.

There was a time when I was buying boxes regularly or being given one for a birthday or Christmas.

I think the last time I bought some boxes was in early 2011 on my last visit to India

It's been seven years now and I think it's time for some buying. My fingers are itching to pick up a box or two.

What are your fingers itching to do? Share in the comments below.

Six Minutes Of Fame ...

Today's prompt is Six Minutes Of Fame
~

For a few years now I have been interested in arts and crafts. Supplies are very expensive so I have been collecting them steadily over the years. So here are six of my art supplies that I enjoy using.

Watercolour is my favourite medium. I have five sets of watercolour paints, all of course student grade as artist grade are very expensive. For the type of painting I do, student grade is good enough.

I was introduced to Inktense by my friend who is also an artist and paints primarily in acrylics and oil. She was kind enough to lend me her inktense pencils as a trial and I enjoyed using those hence I ordered the inktense blocks.

I use acrylics for mixed media painting and journalling. Acrylics are not my favourite medium but I do enjoy using them. I have only 1 box of acrylic paints that has lasted a long time so obviously I don't use them as much as my watercolours.

I was intrigued with watersoluble crayons and when the Crayola Portfolio set went on sale at a throwaway price on Amazon, I promptly ordered them. Pleasantly surprised, this is a medium I could grow to love.

Lately I have started vlogging about my artwork and crafts and I am truly enjoying the vlogging experience. Check out some of my art and craft vlogs -

I also vlog on other subjects - check out my vlog posts on my blog Someday Somewhere

Here is a quick look at my watercolour painting vlog.

On my youtube channel  https://youtu.be/zQByAcsWl9Q

And where does the prompt fit into all of this? Well, my YouTube stats tell me that I have had 165 views and 164 minutes of watch time. So perhaps I've already had my six minutes of fame!

What is your six minutes of fame? Share in the comments.

Give Me Five ...

Today's prompt is Give Me Five ...

So here they are five bags from India.

I love bags especially handloom ones from India. Whenever I visit, I come back with many many of these bags.

Bags are my indulgence. My daughter on the other hand loves little coin purses and she's got quite a collection of those.

So high five to bags!

Four Corners Of The World ... #BarAThon

These four little bears are actually Christmas ornaments for the tree but they are quite heavy so instead they sit in a little tray in my room.

As today's prompt is Four Corners Of The World, these bears are going to take you on a journey to some places.

When my son was little, he drove Santa Bear from the North Pole nuts by asking for things that he had conjured up in his mind.  Santa Bear was pretty clever and his improvisations and apology notes invariably brought joy to my little boy.

The US Bear recalls the first time both my kids visited the US. My daughter was seven when she and I first visited and we travelled to a few cities. But the one journey that we both will never forget is flying over the Rocky Mountains from LA to St. Louis. It was a magnificent day and the mountains were so clear to see.  My son was eight when he first visited the US. He was fascinated by the bridges in San Fransisco and New York. Perhaps that fascination led him to becoming an architect.

New Zealand Bear recalls the first time I landed in New Zealand. The flight into Wellington was beautiful and the city looked spectacular nestled among hills. Each time I fly into Wellington, I pray that the weather is good as it is such a scenic city and it's such a thrill flying over the suburbs and trying to figure out where you are.

And last but not least, UK Bear recalls a very enjoyable trip to the UK many moons ago. Of course we visited London, but it's not London I'm going to write about but Pontypridd in Wales. My aunt's house is high up on a hill and during the day the scenery looked just like any other, a view of the valley and houses. But at night, when the city lights came on, it looked like Fairyland. That's a sight I won't forget.

Hope you enjoyed the four corners of the world with the little bears.

Share in the comments, a moment that comes back so vividly that you can actually relive it just as if it was happening now.

Three's A Charm ... #BarAThon

Today's prompt is Three's A Crowd, but instead I'm going to write on Three's A Charm.

I saw these Christmas ornaments going at a throwaway price last Christmas. I really didn't know what they would look like when I bought them, but I was intrigued and since they were so cheap I thought I would pick them up and check them out.

These run on solar power and their battery life is very short, a couple of hours at best. So on a cloudy day, they pretty much stay unlit.

But when the sun's out and the battery is charged up, they are a delight to look at in the dark. They sit on my window sill and I love looking at them.

In this case three is not a crowd, instead it's a charm!

Have you ever bought something with little expectation but turned out quite delightful? Share in the comments.

I love collecting dolls. There was a time when I had a large collection of dolls from all over the world dressed in their country's National costumes. But I've moved houses a few times and though I'm sure my dolls are packed safely in a box somewhere, that box is not easily accessible.

So my daughter gifted these two Japanese dolls for Christmas some years ago. Both are extremely cute and choosing a favourite would be too hard.

But two together are cuter.

One Too Many ...

I'm not explaining this very well but perhaps the pictures will speak for themselves.

This mug was handpainted by me.  Some years ago my friend and I spent an afternoon at a cafe where you could purchase pottery and paint it. So this was my attempt. Not too bad but the best part was the fun we had together. I now use this as a pen/pencil holder.

This mosaic piece was given to me by my son. He made this in his woodwork class in school. Handmade gifts are very special and I love this one.

I shared two pictures for One so perhaps one too many? But I couldn't make up my mind so had to share both.

Do you have any artefacts that are special to you? Share in the comments below and tell us why they are special.
