Four Corners Of The World ... #BarAThon

I am taking part in the Blog-A-Rhythm Bar-a-thon challenge. The theme can be anything that requires grit and endurance, but not necessarily fitness related. And there are daily prompts.

So my theme is simple, it's a blogging marathon about things to do with me in pictures, starting at one and ending at seven.
~

These four little bears are actually Christmas ornaments for the tree but they are quite heavy so instead they sit in a little tray in my room.

As today's prompt is Four Corners Of The World, these bears are going to take you on a journey to some places.

When my son was little, he drove Santa Bear from the North Pole nuts by asking for things that he had conjured up in his mind.  Santa Bear was pretty clever and his improvisations and apology notes invariably brought joy to my little boy.

The US Bear recalls the first time both my kids visited the US. My daughter was seven when she and I first visited and we travelled to a few cities. But the one journey that we both will never forget is flying over the Rocky Mountains from LA to St. Louis. It was a magnificent day and the mountains were so clear to see.  My son was eight when he first visited the US. He was fascinated by the bridges in San Fransisco and New York. Perhaps that fascination led him to becoming an architect.

New Zealand Bear recalls the first time I landed in New Zealand. The flight into Wellington was beautiful and the city looked spectacular nestled among hills. Each time I fly into Wellington, I pray that the weather is good as it is such a scenic city and it's such a thrill flying over the suburbs and trying to figure out where you are.

And last but not least, UK Bear recalls a very enjoyable trip to the UK many moons ago. Of course we visited London, but it's not London I'm going to write about but Pontypridd in Wales. My aunt's house is high up on a hill and during the day the scenery looked just like any other, a view of the valley and houses. But at night, when the city lights came on, it looked like Fairyland. That's a sight I won't forget.

Hope you enjoyed the four corners of the world with the little bears.

Share in the comments, a moment that comes back so vividly that you can actually relive it just as if it was happening now.

NaBloPoMo 06 - PhotoHunt - Light

This week's PhotoHunt theme is "Light"

So here are my "Light" pics

Lights at the Bronx Zoo New York
It was a very cold day and we didn't get to see many animals but the lights were amazing. It was well worth a visit to the zoo just to see the lights.

Disney Lights, Los Angeles.
We were at Disneyland just a week before Christmas and the lights were awesome. And even though it bucketed down that day (oh yes it rains at Disney too), the lights were so beautiful, they just lifted our spirits.

City Lights, Mumbai, India.
This was taken from my uncle's place. Fabulous views from his apartment. We watched the fireworks at New Year's Eve unfortunately didn't take those pics. I think some moments you have to enjoy without a camera.

Never Forget - 9/11

Ten years ago the world watched in horror as the twin towers collapsed in New York.

I remember being woken up early with the phone ringing - my brother letting us know they were all safe.

I thought it would be appropriate to dedicate today's photos to ground zero.  These pics were taken Jan 2005.

Standing there you could feel the sadness all around.

To all who lost their lives that day - may you find Peace in God's home.

To those who lost loved ones that day - may God comfort you and give you strength.

Love and hugs to all
Suzy.

The Mirage, Las Vegas

The Mirage was our hotel in Las Vegas. It is a beautiful hotel.

Lots of things to do at the Mirage (other than the casino) - the tigers, the secret garden, the dolphins, the volcano.

Here are some pics of the Mirage

Skating at the Rockefeller Centre, New York

I was watching the British Television show Dancing on Ice this afternoon and that triggered today's post.

Here are pics of the ice skating rink at the Rockefeller Centre in New York. Great fun to watch the skaters.
