No New Year Resolutions - just themes
I gave up on resolutions a long time ago as the Universe just has a mind of its own and its resolutions seem to prevail.
There have many times in my life when an exasperated Universe has basically said to me, okay then go pursue your own course but be prepared for the U turn!
So instead I prefer to set a theme for the year and then watch it unfold.
The Year 2014
My theme for the year 2014 was Joy. Did I find joy in all things all through the year? Obviously not but I did find joy in some big things and in many little things and overall I can say that 2014 was a joy filled year.
The Year 2015
This year my theme or word is Serendipity (a fortunate happenstance or pleasant surprise). The word came to me as I walked around my garden on New Year's day and found some pretty pink flowers that are supposed to bloom in Spring and not Summer.
If you've made any resolutions or have a theme or word for the year, do share in the comments.
Wishing you all a blessed 2015. May you find many pleasant surprises.

I have never made resolutions in the beginning of a new year and no special theme either. There is one thing I hope to fulfill and that's this: I hope that I won't hurt anybody physically or mentally. I hope to answer all people who send me good wishes or send me a comment.
ReplyDeleteWil, ABCW Team.
I hope that your hopes are fulfilled. Happy 2015
DeleteSerendipity is a beautiful word to describe our lives. I think is is a perfect word for all of us as we should welcome all that comes our way in the new year. Wish you a good and happy and healthy new year.
ReplyDeletePS: the #SnapYourWeek post is up. Finally :)
Thanks Inderpreet. So looking forward to seeing how this word unfolds. Wish you a blessed 2015.
DeleteOMG! I started this yearly theme just last year and I was blown away with the results. My 2014 was a year of "more", and what a year of more it was! It was so fulfilling I could look at it without the shoulda, coulda thoughts. I can honestly say I did more and had more last year.
ReplyDeleteThis year is my year of breakthroughs and boldness. Gosh, I'm so excited as to how it will turn out.
And I'm excited for your serendipity! Share your stories of it soon, will you? :)
Thanks SuperLux. Love your words for 2015. Because we set an intention and focus on that throughout the year, the Universe obliges. Wishing you a year of many breakthroughs and bold actions. Will surely share my stories as they unfold and will look forward to yours too.
DeleteI love this word, Suzy! To know that things happen by happenstance is such a wonderful feeling. My Word of the Year came to be via Serendipity too! To think it was such a lovely word too. Happy New year to you and your blog :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Shailaja. Do share your word for 2015. I'm really looking forward to seeing how my year unfolds with Serendipity.
DeleteSerendipity is what keeps me going year after year. And no resolution as such except that I will be happy and make sure all my actions are aligned to that effect :-)

DeleteMy picture was of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, here a range near Telluride, Co.
I also had a little Haiku to go along with it on my other blog: (supposed to be about first sunshine of the year)
Shining on hillside
Jack Rabbits welcome first sun
Scurry home, make nest
..
Thanks Jim. Loved your haiku - dropped by and left a comment on your post. Your picture was stunning too.

Thanks Roger. :D
DeleteThis is a great theme for the year Suzy... I don't know what I would chose...Maybe happiness or contentment perhaps? As you can see I'm still so confused...Maybe that should be my clue :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Naba. I hope you've found your word - I just let it come to me rather than trying to force it. Do share when you've decided.
