Art - my new passion for 2016
At the end of last year I took up watercolour painting and I am loving it. Art is so relaxing. I was between jobs and thought I would try my hand at it.
So here is my impression of Uluru or Ayer's Rock in Australia. Looks pretty easy to paint, but trust me it is not.
The Aboriginal people believe that Uluru was created at the beginning of time by Spirit people and is hence considered a sacred or spiritual place.
I've never been to Uluru but would love to visit. Somehow I've always felt it was a place of significance though I don't know what that significance is. Perhaps that will be clear when I get there someday.
This week I went back to work - same place I finished up at in September so I am thrilled to be back there as I love it there.
My son got accepted into the Architecture Master's programme so I am thrilled about that and so proud of my boy.
Been reading Beyond Past Lives by Mira Kelley - an interesting read though some parts of it I did not resonate with. But then that is what books are all about - you take what feels right and discard what doesn't. Her book raised a lot of questions so I guess from that perspective that's good. Will have to meditate on the answers.
I hope you all had a good week.

ReplyDeleteI am happy to know that the new year has started on a good note for you :)
Happy for your son and I also loved that book. Sure there are some aspects to that book but if you continue to ponder upon...you shall embrace it. The past--destiny--happiness!
Pleasure to have you on board

Thanks Ruchira. Will have to meditate on the questions for my own answers. Happy to link up with your WW.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting Suzy! And I believe you when you say it is not easy! Unlike oils, watercolors paintings are not easy to manipulate or rectify! Enjoy this beautiful and creative hobby.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kala. I am loving the watercolours
DeleteI find watercolour the most difficult form of painting, so bravo for your success.
ReplyDeleteThanks Viv. Everyone tells me that but I am loving it and slowly getting to understand watercolours better.
DeleteThat's a great passion to have, Suzy! I always fancy trying it too. I was hopeless in my schooldays and have never lifted a paintbrush since, but people change, don't they? Have a happy week! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Restlessjo. I too hadn't painted since school but I thought I would try and I am loving it.
DeleteI could see the resemblance. Beautifully done. Ulluru is on my list ... waiting for a long weekend to go there :D Congratulations to your son :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Rajlakshmi. I too definitely want to see Ulluru
DeleteFor a non-creative like me, this itself is a masterpiece. :-) Adding Ulluru to my list of places to visit in Australia. And congratulations to the big boy. :-)

DeleteCongrats to your son! Am intrigued with the Aboriginal people - and love their art. Do they still live separate, or have they nowadays integrated with the Westerners? Thanks for visiting me!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeannette I guess they must have integrated. I don't live in Australia so not too sure.
DeleteBeautifully done, Suzy..I missed visiting it when I was there..Maybe next time :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Naba. Always good to have something for next time :)
DeleteGorgeous painting, Suzy. And I must add, as someone who cannot paint - I'm a wee bit envious too
ReplyDeleteThanks Sid. Never thought I would ever pick up the brush again after school. We never know until we try :)
DeleteThat looks so amazing! I would love to visit this sacred mountain too, esp now that I know the legend behind it. Congratulations for your son's admission.
ReplyDeleteThanks Beloo. Yes Uluru is a very spiritual place. But I think we have to be there to feel it.
Deletelove the painting.. and you have inspired me to add one more goal for myself - paint something ..(i have always wanted to)..
