One happy boy - one happy mom
This week
Soule Mama posted a remembrance post for blogger and author
Kathreen Ricketson who along with her partner tragically died on a family holiday in Western Australia. May their souls be at peace. This is truly a sad event as they both leave behind two children aged 13 and 10.
Kathreen's tragic death is a reminder to all of us to savour each moment of our life and "Soule Mama" reminds us to spend a moment with those we love, doing something we all enjoy together. A single, special extraordinary moment. A moment we'd want to pause, savour and remember and to save the moment in our hearts and hold it close....
Just this morning my son and I shared a couple of hours breakfasting together. We spoke of a lot of things and then came around to the topic of books. Then the reminiscing began regarding favourite books in childhood.
My daughter's was "Fantastic Mr Fox" by Roald Dahl. I've read this one to her hundreds of times until she could read it herself. My son liked it but didn't take to it the way she did. His favourites were the "Thomas the Tank Engine" series, a series on solving mysteries (can't remember the name or publisher), and "Winnie the Pooh".
He started recalling some of the stories, we sang the Thomas songs and the Fantastic Mr Fox poem of Bogus and Bunce and Bean.
And then I shared my favourite Winnie the Pooh story - of Rabbit, Pooh and Piglet lost in the woods. And how Pooh finally finds the way back home after Rabbit decides to leave and the constant rabbit chatter fades to silence. Piglet asks Pooh how he found his way home and Pooh tells him that once silence prevailed, the rumbly in his tumbly simply found the way home.
My son is 18 now but a little "Pooh and Piglet" story was a good lesson for him - that in silence we find the answers and when we listen to our inner wisdom we achieve great things.
But more than that it was a beautiful morning, a few loving and fun-filled moments to savour and remember. One happy boy, one happy mom.
Today I share with all of you St Paul's Cathedral and send a prayer to God that He may give Kathreen's children strength and courage to bear their loss. And that they may find comfort now and forever in His loving care.
Sending you all light and love. May you all have many beautiful moments with your loved ones.
