Fitting in

Feeling tired. Glad it's the weekend.

Quite a busy and hectic week. I'm not complaining as being busy is good. But I'm glad it's the weekend.   I feel a bit drained probably because I haven't been getting enough sleep. It's been so hot that I keep waking up.  I think I've decided I like the cooler weather a whole lot more. Cooler not colder :)

This morning I thought a lot about my school friend.  She is my soul sister. I must've been picking up on her thoughts as I was thinking I must message her on Facebook. Then she posted an update that her hubby who is very ill has been moved to a nursing home. Please pray for him and send him positive and healing energy.  Thank you,

Some days ago someone said to me that he felt he just didn't fit in and that  he should make an effort to. I often felt that way too when I was little. His words prompted this entry in my art journal:

Why fit in when you were born to stand out

An Opportunity To Send Some #Love - #LettersOfLove

An Opportunity to send some love

October is birthday month in my family. Seven birthdays in the family including my daughter, my mom and me.  I wanted to do something special for my birthday. Nothing came to mind until I read about the Letters of Love initiative on Roshan Radhakrishnan's blog

The Letters of Love initiative is the brainchild of Pooja Pradeep who decided she wanted to do something after watching the haunting images of the children from Syria whose lives had been ruined for a reason they could not even understand. Rather than become lost in the avalanche of initiatives to raise funds, this 23 year old decided she wanted to give the children something that would last - emotional support.

With this idea in mind was born the concept of Letters of Love.

The concept is this - all those who are willing are requested to send in 'happy' pictures of themselves along with a short 3-4 line message of encouragement for these children from Syria who now live in refugee camps and feel they have lost everything in their lives. The pictures will be converted into post cards and your words translated into Arabic (the native language of the children) and handwritten on to the back of the card.

Pooja has had an overwhelming response to her initiative and many have offered to donate. If you would like to donate, please also visit http://www.ketto.org/Lettersoflove

And for more information please check  Roshan Radhakrishnan's post and the Letters of Love facebook page.

Letters of Love is now in collaboration with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees - Gaziantep, Turkey. All letters will be sent to them and they will facilitate the cause at the receiving end. Upon receiving the cartons of love, they will be distributing our letters to the refugee children at the community centres in South West Turkey.

If you do participate please send your letter soon as by mid December all letters will be collated and sent.

Today I sent my letter and picture with a little bit of love.  Here's the picture I sent.

I hope you will join in this heart warming initiative. It costs nothing but if it makes a difference in one young life, then that will be priceless

And the other things during the week ...

I had an awesome birthday spent with my kids and my mom. My daughter stayed overnight so that was nice.

Met up with my a friend for a coffee and had a lovely time. I am really enjoying catching up with friends.

Yesterday as I was flicking the TV channels I stumbled upon  Portugal. What a beautiful place. It is definitely on my places to see list.

This morning my friend called from the US and we had a nice long chat. It was the highlight of my day. We've been friends since I was 10 years old. She's my soul sister, one of the few who knows the real me. Love you lots my dear friend.

Rugby World Cup fever is on. The semi final with South Africa this morning was a nail biter. The All Blacks, New Zealand's Rugby team, is into the finals. Woohoo.  Go the ABs.

Having told you about my week, it hit home even more that we are so blessed to have so many good things in our life.

The Letters of Love initiative takes on even more meaning for me. Please do join. This is such a wonderful opportunity to send a little love to a young child who has lost so much.

Spread love everywhere you go.
Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.

Nice Gesture?

No, it's an ...
extremely nice and completely unexpected gesture

one that touched my heart and soul

Few days ago a parcel arrived in my mailbox all the way from USA from Ruchira (who blogs at Abracadabra). And this is what it contained:

Ruchira and I have never met but I came across Ruchira's blog through a blogging group and during one of the festivals I got to know her blog in earnest. What a wonderful place with so much wisdom.

They say nothing happens by chance and I so believe that. Ruchira's words resonated with me and I felt a connection with her.

And so started a friendship online. Not that we write to each other everyday or hold hands across the miles. That isn't necessary. It's just that I felt I could reach out to a wonderful soul somewhere in this world.

Ruchira must be psychic because bangles and dangly earrings are jewellery I absolutely adore. And peacock blue is one of my favourite colours.

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. ~ Marcel Proust

I am so delighted to know you Ruchira. Thank you from the depths of my heart for your generous gesture.

I have neglected my blog for a while now and this is the perfect way to get it going again.
