Fascinating post - I like the history and you got all elements in one shot.
Thanks Bagman and Butler. I like reading a bit of history too.
at the base of the statue is an inset of some other stone, carving from another stucture? I was too lazy last night to try and find a photo with all 3 - SO GOOD JOB!
Thanks Ginger - I think you're right about the inset - will have to take another walk there and check it out. And I was too lazy to find 3 lol!
It looks like its been there for a hundred years! But I read the plaque so I guess not!
It does look like that - maybe that's the effect they were trying to simulate. Thanks for dropping by.
Great shot. Interesting story. I have never seen that before.QMM
Thanks Peggy. There are many interesting stories from NZ - will try and weave them into some posts.
Great shot for all three elements, Suzy. And it's a beautiful sculpture!
Thanks Pauline - it sure is - near the Te Papa on the waterfront. The pic doesn't really do it justice.
that is a beautiful art piece!
Thanks J9 and thanks for visiting.
Interesting piece of history, I love it!
Thanks Jama - I learned a bit of history too when I took the pic.
Good all-in-one! :)
