Happy New Year 2024

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2024.

It's been a long time since I blogged. But I hope to restart this year as I'm quite sad that I've neglected my blogs for so long.

I've just returned from a holiday in the South Island of New Zealand. I had a good and relaxing time with family. I'll post some pics in future posts.

Enjoy your week.

Alleviating Load ... #SixWordSaturday #ABCWednesday #WordlessWednesday

Alleviating load by de-cluttering is satisfying

I spent all of yesterday de-cluttering. It's amazing how much one collects over time.

So far I have 2 bags for re-cycling, 2 bags of junk, 2 bags of clothes for the Salvation Army.  And these are extremely large bags. Still plenty more to go.

white shopping bag gives a comparison of size

All in all an abosultely A-ok outcome.

And since garbage bags are not much fun, here is a picture of the Auckland Sky Tower hearlding the arrival of 2018.

Have an awesome week.

2017 In Photos ... #SixWordSaturday #WordlessWednesday

My top three 2017 Instagram photos

Blogging took a backseat in 2017.
It was a mixed bag year.
Some memorable moments and many challenges.
I'm glad it's done and dusted.
One of the highlights was Instagram.
And I have truly enjoyed that.

So here are my top three 2017 Instagram photos.

Nelson, New Zealand

Auckland, New Zealand

Wellington, New Zealand

Wishing you all a happy and peaceful 2018.

Holidays and Tree Love #2

Seasons seem to be mixed up.

Autumn already? - Where did Summer go?

The Sun took an extended Holiday.

Left us with rainy, cold days.

Maybe Summer is late - hope so.

Holidays are fun - had two recently

I spent a week in Nelson in the South Island of NZ over Christmas. Such a beautiful city, such nice weather - warm and sunny. I had an awesome holiday there with the family. Took lots of pictures of mostly trees. Nelson has the most beautiful trees. Here's one.

I said to the almond tree, 'Friend, speak to me of God,' and the almond tree blossomed.

Next holiday was in January to Auckland to a friend's son's wedding. R and I have been friends since we were 10 years old. I had a great time and it was so good catching up with her family that I hadn't seen for years. The weather in Auckland was dreadful though.

NaBloPoMo 08 - Auckland Sky Tower

The Sky Tower is an observation and communications tower in Auckland, New Zealand.

Some Sky Tower facts:

  • Tallest free standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere
  • 3 observation desks with 360degree views of Auckland
  • There are 1267 steps from the base to the Sky deck
  • The tower is often lit up in different colour schemes to promote different events or causes
  • Offers 2 activities, the sky walk (a walk around the exterior of the observation deck) and the sky jump from 192m.

Here are some of my Sky Tower pics (click on pics to enlarge)

NaBloPoMo 01 - City of Sails

Thought I would take the NaBloPoMo challenge.

NaBloPoMo = National Blog Posting Month

In a nutshell, you have to register for NaBloPoMo and publish at least one post each day for the whole month of November.

So here it is ... the first post of the November NaBloPoMo and this post is on Auckland, New Zealand's largest city.

Some interesting facts about Auckland:

  • Known as the City of Sails because of the hundreds of yachts in its harbour
  • Has more yachts per capita than any other city in the world
  • The Sky Tower is the tallest free standing structure in the entire Southern Hemisphere
  • Comprises of about 50 dormant volcanoes, the largest volcano is on Rangitoto Island
  • The Maori name for Auckland is Tamaki Makaurau meaning "the isthmus of one thousand lovers"

Sky Tower Sky Jump

The Sky Jump is a 192 meter jump from the observation deck of the Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand. It is the world's highest land based jump.

Here is a picture of a person attempting the Sky Jump.

I don't know if I have the courage to dangle 192 meters above the ground.
