NaBloPoMo 08 - Auckland Sky Tower

The Sky Tower is an observation and communications tower in Auckland, New Zealand.

Some Sky Tower facts:

  • Tallest free standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere
  • 3 observation desks with 360degree views of Auckland
  • There are 1267 steps from the base to the Sky deck
  • The tower is often lit up in different colour schemes to promote different events or causes
  • Offers 2 activities, the sky walk (a walk around the exterior of the observation deck) and the sky jump from 192m.

Here are some of my Sky Tower pics (click on pics to enlarge)

  5. Thanks Everyone.
@Luna @Stardus - The views are awesome. I've been up there thrice at different times and the views are great any time of the day. But there's something extra special about the evening.
@Al - New Zealand is definitely worth a visit.

  6. In a way this reminds me of the Space Needle in Seattle. Quite an impressive structure. I now people like to go up and eat in the restaurants on top, but not this old gal. I want my feet firmly planted on terra firma at all times. Your photos are great. I feel like I have actually ben there, now.genie

  7. Thanks Genie - I think I'm okay with heights as long as there is glass and a barrier between me and the outside. I can't handle heights over water. that just scares me to death.
